Following sold out shows across Nottingham and a brilliant performance via Facebook live last week, we catch up with Tori Sheard to discuss Splendour Festival, her dream festival lineup and which albums she recommends!

Firstly, we’re super excited for your slot at Splendour Festival – what can we expect from your set?

So am I! Expect high energy and new sounds! I’ll have some new music out by then which i’m really proud of. I’m working on fusing folky songwriting with a poppier production style. It will be fun, we will all dance together!

Does your approach to festival performances differ to headline shows? Are you more relaxed because it “isn’t your crowd” so to say, or is it more stressful because you’re trying to gain new fans?

They’re different kinds of nerves. With headline shows, I don’t want to let people down. With new audiences, I want them to like my music! They’re different stresses but i’m just going to focus on enjoying myself and giving the best performance I can!

We LOVED your Facebook live gig earlier this week – how does it feel to see so many people checking it out – especially mid-afternoon on a Wednesday?

Thank you! It was lovely - it’s a great way to feel connected to people in these strange times. I don’t suppose there’s much else to do on a Wednesday afternoon in an isolation, haha! It made me really happy to see so many people engaging.

With festival season approaching, which three artists would headline your dream festival?

Maggie Rogers, Lizzo, HAIM! Girl power all the way.
