New Music Weekly!

By alt.tickets

Posted on Friday 26th February 2021 at 19:10

Happy Friday! This week is an extra special one, as one of our very favourite weekends of the year, Dot To Dot Festival, have announced that they will be taking place in September (Bristol on 25th Sept and Nottingham on 26th Sept) instead of the usual May bank holiday festival.

They have also revealed the first 30 names (of the 100+ that will play the festival), and it's a super talented bunch of artists including some gems we've discovered already. Check out a few of the below new tracks from the line-up.

Ellysse Mason – Sweet Talking

Ellysse Mason is a beguiling, enchanting artist who is beginning to make serious musical waves. Her new single 'Sweet Talkin' is a profoundly moving track full of atmospheric soundscapes, check it out below and make sure to catch her at Dot To Dot this year.

Tayo Sound – Runaway

We were loving Tayo Sound's new EP, 'Runaway', when it dropped earlier this month, so we are so excited to be seeing the full time busker turned indie tastemaker favourite at Dot to Dot in September!

Lizzie Reid – Cubicle

Another great EP that came out this month is Lizzie Reid's 'Cubiule', a tender 21-minute listen full of songs of love, loss and heartbreak. We're sure these tracks are going to sound stunning live at the festival this year.

Sad Boys Club – What Could Have Beens (& What Ifs)

These guys have been on our radar for around a year now, since they were announced as a support act to alt.tickets faves The Slow Readers Club's UK Tour, we've been hooked on their emotive and ambitions indie-pop sound ever since. New track 'What Could Have Beens (& What Ifs)' might even be our pick of their tracks, with a melodic emo tone running throughout the verses to twin with huge euphoric choruses.

Low Island – Feel Young Again

It's feels both so long ago yet so recent that we were watching Low Island live at The Bodega at Dot To Dot in 2017. We've seen their live show a few times since, and they just keep getting better and better - trust us 'In Person' live absolutely bangs. In even more great news their debut album is due this year ahead of the festival and we can't wait for a heroic return! Check out their latest single Feel Young Again below.

Tinyumbrellas – Signal

We must admit the first we've ever heard of Tinyumbrellas is with this year's Dot To Dot announcement, but she's exactly the reason we love this festival. Finding out about exciting new artists before they break through and getting hyped to see them in small venues when they could be destined for big things is a huge part of the festival's ethos.

Tinyumbrellas' 'Singal' really stood out to us as a truly beautiful song, and so accomplished for a relatively new artist, it's had us coming back to it over and over again since we heard it on Dot To Dot's playlist earlier today. Do yourself a favour and check it out below.

joey maxwell – leaves blow over

Any track that includes the lyrics "I just wanna be Chad Kroeger, you could be my Avril 'til the leaves blow over" is a winner in our opinion. This track and Joey's whole back catalogue has such a chilled out bedroom pop vibe to it, treat yourself to a listen and bop along with your headphones on, oh and then go and get your tickets see him at this year's Dot To Dot Festival!
