Another Friday means a whole host of new music released for your listening pleasure! This week, we check out the latest new albums from Arlo Parks, The Besnard Lakes, Lonely The Brave and The Luka State!

Arlo Parks - Collapsed In Sunbeams

2021 is less than a month old and already we have one of the albums of 2021 from London-based musician and poet Arlo Parks. The album is a series of vignettes and intimate portraits surrounding her adolescence and the people that shaped it. It is rooted in storytelling and nostalgia. The album is an emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, beautiful poetry, betrayal and hope, that has been inspired by Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, Jim Morrison and Fela Kuti. One listen and you will fall in love, like you did when you first heard Frank Ocean, King Krule or Lilly Allen.

The Besnard Lakes – The Besnard Lakes Are the Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings

The Besnard Lakes have passed through death and they’re here to tell the tale. Nearly five years after their last lightning-tinted volley, the magisterial Montreal psych-rock band have sworn off compromise, split with their long-standing label, and completed a searing, 72-minute suite about the darkness of dying and the light on the other side.

'The Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings' is the group's sixth album and the first in more than 15 years to be released away from a certain midwestern American indie record company. The new record is a bright-blazing requiem: nine tunes that are one tune and six musicians who make one band - unleashed and unconstrained, piercing and technicolour. At the end of the golden day, the Besnard Lakes are right where they should be.

Lonely The Brave - The Hope List

Some things aren’t meant to be laid to rest. Instead, they dig deep into your heart, your blood, your bones, your soul. You never let go of them, and – sometimes – they never let go of you. Such is the case with Lonely The Brave.

Building on the legacy that Lonely The Brave built for themselves, the new material is brimming with the band’s trademark purity and passion, as well as a newfound sense of confidence that weaves its way through. It’s a signal that the band aren’t just back, but back with renewed purpose and energy. Some things aren’t meant to be laid to rest – and these songs prove wholeheartedly that Lonely The Brave are one of those things who, once they bury themselves inside you, are impossible to forget about.
